Rhea Ripley vs. Jade Cargill: “Your Body is Built for Show”

by Luis Mendoza - Sport Editor

The road to WrestleMania 42 is heating up, with tensions reaching a boiling point between WWE Women’s Champion Jade Cargill and her challenger, Rhea Ripley. A fiery face-to-face confrontation on the March 6 episode of SmackDown saw the two superstars trade verbal jabs, escalating the anticipation for their highly anticipated title match. The segment concluded with both women emphatically declaring themselves “that bitch,” further solidifying the intensity surrounding their upcoming showdown.

The exchange began with Cargill addressing a previous handshake offered to Ripley, framing it as a gesture of respect for Ripley’s accomplishments, popularity and dedication to training. Although, Cargill made it clear that respect did not equate to intimidation. “I gave you that handshake out of respect — respect for your accomplishments, respect for how much the people love you, respect for the fact that I’m facing you at WrestleMania, and respect for the work you put in at the gym. But I’m not impressed. Your arms are big, but mine are bigger. Your legs are powerful, but mine are more powerful. I am more worthy of being WWE Women’s Champion, and I’m going to beat the hell out of you. I’m that bitch,” Cargill stated before dropping the microphone.

Ripley responded by extending her hand once more, which Cargill accepted. Ripley then delivered a pointed message of her own, acknowledging Cargill’s assessment of their physical attributes while questioning whether sheer size would be the deciding factor in their match. “I respect your honesty. I know what you think of me, and maybe I don’t impress you physically — but you impress me physically. Maybe your shoulders are bigger. Maybe your arms are too. Maybe your legs. Maybe even your hand. But if you hit me with your best shot, do you really think I’m going to go down and stay down?” Ripley asked rhetorically.

After a brief pause, Ripley confidently answered her own question. “Absolutely not. But if I hit you with mine, there’s no way you’re getting back up.” Ripley then articulated what she believes sets them apart. “The difference between us is simple: your body is built for show. Mine is built for fighting. You work out to look aesthetically pleasing. I work out to survive and thrive in this business. You can flex all you want — I’m going to fight. I’m going to take that title, and I’m going to take it with force, and there’s not a damn thing you can do about it… given that I’m that bitch.” Ripley then dropped the microphone, ending the intense exchange as both competitors stood their ground.

The rivalry between Cargill and Ripley began to intensify after Ripley won the Women’s Chamber match at Elimination Chamber on March 1, 2026, earning her the opportunity to challenge Cargill for the WWE Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 42, according to AOL Sports. Prior to Ripley’s victory, Bianca Belair was originally slated to face Cargill at WrestleMania, as reported by Sports Illustrated. However, Ripley’s win and the subsequent online exchanges between Cargill and Ripley led WWE to shift plans.

The shift in opponents hasn’t diminished the stakes. Cargill and Ripley have engaged in a war of words on social media, capturing the attention of the WWE Universe. A video of their initial exchange on SmackDown, posted on YouTube, has already garnered significant attention, further fueling the anticipation for their WrestleMania clash. The WrestleMania 42 showdown, scheduled for Saturday, April 4, 2026, at the Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, according to WWE.com, promises to be a pivotal moment for both competitors. Cargill will be defending her WWE Women’s Championship, while Ripley aims to add another title to her impressive resume.

As WrestleMania approaches, all eyes will be on Cargill and Ripley to see if their verbal sparring translates into a physical battle for the ages. The intensity of their rivalry suggests a match filled with hard-hitting action and high stakes. The WWE Universe eagerly awaits to witness who will ultimately emerge victorious and claim the title of WWE Women’s Champion.
