Kyana-Jade Poulin scored 19 points and grabbed nine rebounds as the Carleton Ravens defeated the Toronto Metropolitan Bold 60-58 in overtime Saturday, securing a fifth-place finish at the 2026 Sun Life U SPORTS Women’s Final 8 tournament held at Amphithéâtre Desjardins in Quebec City.
The game was a defensive struggle throughout, with neither team able to establish significant offensive momentum. Both teams shot below 31 per cent from the field. Poulin’s performance proved crucial, particularly in the fourth quarter where she scored nine points to help the Ravens overcome a deficit and force the game into overtime.
Poulin, playing a game-high 41 minutes, finished 6-for-19 from the field and added a block and a steal. Tyanne Matosas-Adderley contributed 14 points, three assists, and three steals for Carleton, while Jacqueline Urban recorded a double-double with 12 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
Despite a strong rebounding performance, securing 44 rebounds to Carleton’s 40, Toronto Metropolitan fell short. Myriam Kone led the Bold with a dominant double-double of her own, registering 25 points and 16 rebounds in 44 minutes of play. Hailey Franco DeRyck added 17 points and 14 rebounds for Toronto Metropolitan.
The Bold struggled with their outside shooting, connecting on only 3 of 20 three-point attempts. Carleton held a 28-22 lead at halftime, but Toronto Metropolitan rallied in the third quarter to briefly take the lead. The Ravens tied the game at 53-53 late in regulation, setting the stage for a tense overtime period.
In overtime, Carleton limited Toronto Metropolitan to just five points, securing the 60-58 victory. The Ravens committed 21 turnovers, but their rebounding advantage and late-game execution proved decisive.
Kyana-Jade Poulin was named the NIKE TEAM PLAYER OF THE GAME for Carleton, while Myriam Kone received the honor for Toronto Metropolitan.
