Marsa Kindl-Omuse will assume the position of Head of Market USA for Österreich Werbung on June 1, 2026, the organization announced this week.
Kindl-Omuse’s appointment marks a continuation of strategic leadership for the Austrian National Tourist Office’s significant U.S. Market operations. She succeeds Michael Gigl, who is retiring after more than 40 years with Österreich Werbung at the end of June 2026.
Currently based in New York, Kindl-Omuse has worked within the Österreich Werbung’s New York office since 2004. Her responsibilities have included travel trade activities, partner program management, and, since 2010, leading marketing campaigns and coordinating international collaborations. According to Österreich Werbung, her experience encompasses strategic planning, budget oversight, project management, and international brand communication.
“With Marsa Kindl-Omuse, we are appointing an established expert to lead our US market who knows the market, partners and organization for many years,” said Astrid Steharnig-Staudinger, CEO of Österreich Werbung, in a statement. “She stands for both continuity and strategic further development.”
The U.S. Market is considered one of the most important long-haul markets for Austrian tourism. Kindl-Omuse’s long-term presence within the New York office is intended to ensure a seamless transition and continued growth within the region.
Gigl’s departure concludes a four-decade tenure marked by significant contributions to the international success of Austrian tourism. Österreich Werbung acknowledged his decades of dedication, strategic vision, and market expertise.
Kindl-Omuse will lead the team in New York and be responsible for the strategic development of the U.S. Market.
