Rihanna: Woman Arrested After Shooting at Singer’s Home

A 35-year-ancient Florida woman has been arrested and charged with attempted murder after allegedly firing multiple shots at the Beverly Hills home of singer Rihanna and rapper A$AP Rocky on Sunday afternoon. The incident occurred while Rihanna, A$AP Rocky, their three children, and Rihanna’s mother were all present at the residence, according to Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman.

Authorities responded to reports of gunfire around 1:15 p.m. At the property. No injuries were reported, but four rounds struck the house, including one that penetrated a wall. The suspect, identified as Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, allegedly fired between seven and nine rounds from an AR-15-style rifle from a vehicle parked across the street, before fleeing the scene.

Ortiz was quickly apprehended by police following a traffic stop in the Sherman Oaks area of the San Fernando Valley, approximately three miles from the scene. She is facing charges of attempted murder, ten counts of assault with a semiautomatic weapon, and three counts of shooting at an inhabited dwelling. She has been booked on a $10 million bond, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Details of the Arrest and Charges

The arrest unfolded after police received reports of shots fired at Rihanna’s home. Ortiz allegedly drove away in a white Tesla following the shooting, heading south on Coldwater Canyon Drive. During her arraignment on Monday, Ortiz initially pleaded not guilty through her attorney, but the plea was later withdrawn to postpone the hearing until March 25th, NBC Los Angeles reports. She remains in custody.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office confirmed the charges against Ortiz, highlighting the severity of the alleged crime. The attempted murder charge carries a potential sentence of life in prison if she is convicted on all counts.

Previous Security Concerns for Rihanna

This incident isn’t the first time Rihanna has experienced security breaches at her home. In 2018, her residence was reportedly broken into twice. In one instance, a man allegedly remained inside the property for approximately 12 hours before being discovered, USA Today reported. This history underscores ongoing concerns about the safety and security of the singer and her family.

During the shooting on Sunday, Rihanna and A$AP Rocky were reportedly inside a trailer on the property while the rest of their family was inside the main house. Authorities have not yet released a motive for the shooting, and the investigation is ongoing.

The incident occurred as A$AP Rocky prepares to embark on his “Don’t Be Dumb World Tour” beginning May 27th, supporting his recently released album.

Authorities have issued a restraining order prohibiting Ortiz from contacting Rihanna and A$AP Rocky or approaching their property. The investigation is being led by the LAPD Robbery Homicide Division.

As the investigation continues, authorities are working to determine the motive behind the shooting and ensure the safety of Rihanna, A$AP Rocky, and their family. The next court appearance for Ivanna Lisette Ortiz is scheduled for March 25th, where further details of the case are expected to be revealed.
