President Prabowo Subianto delivered a stern warning to his administration on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, demanding truthful reporting and rejecting attempts to mislead him with fabricated or overly optimistic data. The admonishment came during the first anniversary celebration of Danantara Indonesia, the nation’s sovereign wealth fund, held in Jakarta Pusat.
The President’s remarks underscore his commitment to transparency and accountability as he oversees the management of Indonesia’s substantial state assets. Danantara, officially launched in February 2025, is intended to consolidate these assets under a single platform, aiming to bolster the nation’s financial future. The fund’s performance is currently under close scrutiny, with Prabowo emphasizing the importance of accurate assessments of its progress.
“Don’t play games with me with false reports, pleasing reports, reports to strive and trick me. I supply this firm warning,” Prabowo stated, according to reports. He expressed hope that the information he receives is accurate, particularly concerning the fund’s return on assets (ROA).
The President revealed he had received reports indicating a 300 percent increase in Danantara’s ROA compared to the previous year. While expressing optimism, he stressed the need for verification, stating, “I received a report, hopefully this report is true.”
Danantara’s First Year: A Promising Start
The anniversary event highlighted Danantara’s initial successes and its potential to become a major player on the global stage. Prabowo expressed gratitude for the careful and diligent management of the fund during its first year of operation, attributing its progress to strong political will and sound judgment. He noted that Danantara is now positioned among the world’s top ten sovereign wealth funds.
According to Prabowo, Danantara’s ROA has shown a positive trend, though he acknowledged that achieving a 10-15 percent ROA – considered a benchmark for financial strength – remains a future goal. He praised the fund’s current performance while cautioning against complacency and emphasizing the need for continued improvement. Antara News reported that Prabowo acknowledged a 10 percent return ratio would be unrealistic in its first year.
The President described Danantara as “Daya Anagata Nusantara,” explaining that “Daya” represents power and energy, while “Anagata” signifies the future. He emphasized the fund’s crucial role in preserving and managing Indonesia’s wealth for generations to come.
Indonesia’s Sovereign Wealth Fund Gains Recognition
Prabowo expressed pride in Indonesia’s growing financial standing, stating that Danantara now ranks among the sixth or seventh largest sovereign wealth funds globally. Kompas.com reported Prabowo’s gratitude for Indonesia possessing one of the largest sovereign wealth funds in the world.
The anniversary celebration was attended by key members of the Red and White Cabinet, including Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan, Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar, Foreign Minister Sugiono, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia, State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya. Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, CEO of Danantara, and Erick Thohir, Chair of the Danantara Board of Supervisors, were also present.
Prabowo’s warning against false reporting signals a clear expectation of honesty and transparency within his administration as it navigates the complex task of managing Indonesia’s national wealth. The focus now shifts to sustaining Danantara’s positive momentum and achieving its long-term financial objectives.
The coming months will be critical for Danantara as it works to solidify its position as a leading sovereign wealth fund and deliver on its promise of a prosperous future for Indonesia. Continued scrutiny of its performance and adherence to the highest standards of reporting will be essential to maintaining public trust and achieving its ambitious goals.
