Google is rolling out a new software update for the Nest Wifi Pro, bringing improvements to security, stability and mesh performance. The update, first announced earlier this month as part of the broader “What’s new in Google Home” changelog, is now being deployed to routers automatically overnight, according to 9to5Google.
The Nest Wifi Pro is being updated from software version 3.76.479819 to 3.78.518349. While the official description of the update is straightforward – focusing on core performance enhancements – it represents a continued commitment to maintaining and improving Google’s mesh Wi-Fi system. Users may not immediately notice significant changes with the new firmware, but the underlying improvements aim to provide a more reliable and secure network experience.
This update arrives roughly eight months after the previous software release in July 2025, and Google has yet to update its official “Wifi software versions and release notes” page with the latest information, as noted by Google Nest Help. However, users can easily check their current software version within the Google Home app.
To verify the update, Nest Wifi Pro owners should open the Google Home app, navigate to the “All devices” tab, select their Nest Wifi Pro, tap the settings gear icon, and then find “Software information” under the “Wi-Fi information” section. This allows users to confirm they are running the latest version and benefiting from the security and performance improvements.
The March 2026 update for the Nest Wifi Pro is part of a larger push by Google to enhance its smart home ecosystem. As Android Authority reports, Google is also improving Gemini’s ability to understand room-specific commands and reducing voice cut-offs within the Google Home platform.
Anish Kattukaran, Chief Product Officer for Gemini for Home, Google Home, and Nest, also announced the update on X (formerly Twitter), highlighting the focus on enhanced mesh performance, stability, and security.
The Nest Wifi Pro remains a competitive option in the mesh Wi-Fi market, alongside systems from Eero and Netgear Orbi, as BlueHeadline notes in its 2026 comparison of top mesh Wi-Fi systems. This latest update reinforces Google’s commitment to providing a robust and reliable Wi-Fi experience for its users.
Looking ahead, Google will likely continue to refine the Nest Wifi Pro through ongoing software updates, addressing user feedback and incorporating new features to maintain its position in the evolving mesh Wi-Fi landscape. Users should continue to monitor the Google Home app for future updates and consult the official Google Nest Help resources for the most up-to-date information.
