Rochester Man Arrested for Menacing with Handgun on Columbia Avenue

Rochester, N.Y. – A 35-year-classic Rochester man was arrested Saturday after allegedly threatening a 32-year-old woman with a handgun during an argument on Columbia Avenue, according to the Rochester Police Department.

Police responded to the area around 4:30 p.m. Following a report of the threat. Investigators determined that the incident occurred during a dispute between the man and the woman. The suspect had left the scene before officers arrived, but was apprehended shortly after, police stated.

He has been charged with menacing in the second degree.

The incident occurred in the 500 block of Columbia Avenue, an area that also saw a separate shooting incident later that same day, with Shot Spotter activating around 8:01 p.m., according to reports.

Earlier in the week, on March 13th, police responded to a stabbing near the intersection of Reynolds Street and Columbia Avenue around 12:25 a.m. Ambulance crews were already on scene treating a man for a stab wound when officers arrived.
