Geely Galaxy M7: Specs, Range & Launch Details of New PHEV SUV

Geely’s Galaxy sub-brand launched its first mid-size plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), the M7, in China on March 13, 2026, targeting a competitive segment of the market with a focus on extended electric range and fuel efficiency. The vehicle is slated to begin sales in April, according to Autohome.

The Galaxy M7 combines a 1.5-liter engine with an electric motor and a 29.8 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, delivering a pure electric range of 225 kilometers (CLTC standard) and a combined range of 1,730 kilometers. This extended range is intended to address range anxiety for longer journeys while providing sufficient electric-only operation for typical urban commutes, according to Geely.

Geely is positioning the M7 to compete directly with popular models like the BYD Song Pro DM-i and Song PLUS DM-i, emphasizing its longer electric driving capability and spacious cabin designed for families. The M7’s pricing is expected to fall between 100,000 and 150,000 yuan (approximately $14,500 to $21,800 USD), a price point aimed at budget-conscious buyers.

The vehicle incorporates several technologies designed to maximize efficiency. These include a 47.26% thermal efficiency engine, a high-efficiency thermal management system for the battery, and the Star Intelligence 2.0 cloud-based energy management system, which Geely claims can reduce fuel consumption by 15% and thermal losses by 30%. The battery system, dubbed “Aegis Golden Brick,” similarly features fast charging capabilities.

The exterior design of the M7 draws inspiration from the larger Galaxy M9 SUV, featuring a through-type LED front light bar and a dual-tone body. The vehicle measures 4,770 mm in length, 1,905 mm in width, and 1,685 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,785 mm. Interior features include a floating touchscreen, a full LCD instrument panel, the Flyme Auto system, 256-color AI ambient lighting, a 23-speaker Flyme Sound system, and a 50W wireless charger. Rear seats offer a 4:6 split-folding configuration for increased cargo flexibility.

The launch of the M7 comes as PHEV models are driving growth for Geely in the Chinese market. A regulatory filing in December 2025 had already revealed key specifications of the vehicle, including its dimensions and PHEV layout, signaling Geely’s commitment to the plug-in hybrid segment. Independent verification of the M7’s claimed range and fuel efficiency under real-world driving conditions remains to be seen.
