Ciudad Juárez, Mexico – A 15-year-traditional boy died Sunday afternoon after falling from an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) and striking the train tracks in the Kilómetro 20 neighborhood, authorities reported. The incident occurred at the intersection of Leonardo Bernal and Manuel N. López streets, in the southern part of the city. The 19-year-old female driver of the ATV has been detained and faces charges of negligent homicide.
According to witness accounts, the teenager was riding as a passenger on the ATV when he fell as the vehicle approached the railroad crossing. He sustained a fatal head injury upon impact with the tracks. Emergency responders arrived at the scene to find the boy had already died.
Local authorities confirmed that the operation of ATVs is prohibited on public streets within Ciudad Juárez. El Diario de Juárez reported that officers from the Traffic Safety Department secured the scene and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
The body was transported to the forensic medical examiner’s office for an autopsy. The driver is currently being held by authorities and will be formally charged with homicidio imprudencial – negligent homicide – and presented to the public prosecutor’s office, according to reports.

In 2025, authorities discovered three bodies wrapped in blankets in the same neighborhood, also on General Leonardo Bernal street, accompanied by a threatening message, according to Puentelibre.mx.
The recent ATV accident underscores the dangers of operating unregulated vehicles in urban areas and the importance of adhering to traffic laws. Authorities have reiterated that ATVs are not permitted on city streets.
