A beggar who attacked a policeman in Bahrain was sentenced to prison

The Court of Appeal has sentenced a beggar who attacked a police officer in Bahrain to one year in prison. In September, as part of a joint effort to arrest beggars, a policeman was attacked on a patrol team that had arrived at Khalali in Muharraq. After the jail term, the accused will be deported.

The incident happened last September. The policeman saw the suspect standing in front of a church and approached him to arrest him. But when the suspect saw the officer coming, he tried to run away. The accused was stopped but the beggar who tried to escape by beating the policeman was subdued by the police. The Court of Appeal upheld the first instance court’s decision to imprison the accused for one year and then permanently deport him from the country.
