a blackout left La Cañada and several sectors Castro Barros and Rafael Nuñez without electricity

In the section that goes from Humberto Primero to Caseros, La Cañada was left in the dark. It has been happening for two nights and although the sector coincides with the one that was affected a few months ago by a blackout derived from the theft of cables, this time this would not be the cause, as specified by the Municipality of Córdoba.

What is affected is the public lighting in that sector, which no longer has the lighting of the street lamps that never came on once more following the mega-theft of the wiring. That is to say: it is an area that was completely turned off.

Municipal sources confirmed that the damage was caused by the breakage of an underground cable regarding 70 years old. Work is already in place for its repair.

La Cañada is not the only sector affected by surprise blackouts: a section of Castro Barros avenue was also without light on Tuesday night and also in the so-called “downhill from Cerro de las Rosas”, on Rafael Nuñez avenue the lighting disappeared.

What worries the residents of La Cañada -and those who use this street to travel on foot or in different vehicles- is the vulnerability that is increased by the dark once morest criminal modalities such as “piranha robberies”. It goes without saying that without light, the video surveillance cameras placed in the sector are not very useful either.

Unlike the case derived from the theft of cables, this time the traffic lights work normally and there is no impact on traffic.
