The “Elias” depression coming from Greece has reached Lebanon, and several Lebanese regions are currently witnessing rain.
In this context, Father Eli Khneisser, a specialist in weather conditions and climatology, pointed out that due to the flow of cold, humid winds from the Black Sea towards Turkey and the warm, humid winds from the Mediterranean Sea towards southern Turkey, the activity of the Elias depression deviated from Greece, over Turkey, will increase, and part of it will reach… Towards the coasts of Syria and Lebanon with high and double effectiveness.
Khneisser continued: “It is expected that we will be in a bad scenario in terms of heavy rains, frequent lightning strikes, and the formation of floods, torrents, and hailstones (western mountains, central and northern coasts), and consequently a rise in water levels, especially in areas where municipalities have not worked to open sewers and clean roads.”
He pointed out that Lebanon will face Elias starting this Sunday followingnoon, especially in the evening hours, until Monday night, warning that the scenario may be bad.
