The architect will spend two years in Canada, from 1936 to 1938, to carry out the mega project of the baron. His grandson, Vincent Van Dongen, still lives there. Scandalized by this affair, he describes the Domaine de l’Estérel designed by his grandfather: “It was a kind of Club Med, except it didn’t exist at the time. There was a hotel, the Hotel de la Pointe Bleue, a sports club, with a large diving board and the possibility of doing ‘water’ skiing, as we say here. And then there was this shopping center with the ‘blue room’ (restaurant-cabaret) in which the famous jazzman Benny Goodman performed during the inauguration.“
