Cn Monday, around sixty people suspected of belonging to a counterfeiting network were arrested. Sixty-two arrests were carried out in Italy and one in France. The cradle of the criminal organization was in fact located in Naples, in the south of La Botte.
The counterfeit notes scrupulously imitated different denominations and were distributed throughout Europe.
Before this raid, in cooperation with their French counterparts and with the support of Europol, the Italian carabinieri traced 83 transactions and got their hands on seven couriers. In total, they seized some 200,000 euros in false notes of 20, 50 and 100 euros.
The investigation began in January 2023. The objective of these Italian inspectors specializing in the fight once morest counterfeiting was to flush out the Neapolitan organization. It sold its counterfeit notes throughout Europe but mainly in France, Belgium, Spain, Germany and the Netherlands.
