The Sudanese Minister of Foreign Affairs, Maryam Al-Sadiq Al-Mahdi, said that the legal and binding agreement on the Renaissance Dam is linked to important and direct interests of Khartoum.
Al-Mahdi’s statements came in a press conference with the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mohamed, which was reported by Al-Arabiya channel.
The Sudanese Foreign Minister said: “A binding agreement is required on the Renaissance Dam, and we affirm that Khartoum’s position is based on the importance of reaching a legal and binding agreement on the rules for filling and operating the Renaissance Dam.”
Al-Mahdi confirmed that this matter is directly related to important and vital interests of Sudan, adding that there is importance to finding a comprehensive and satisfactory solution for all parties regarding the Renaissance Dam.
The Chairperson of the African Union Commission also said that the Sudanese Foreign Minister is ready to provide any possible assistance to facilitate reaching an agreement between the parties on the Renaissance Dam.
