A pedestrian fatally mowed down by a truck on the A8 motorway this Monday morning

A man was killed on Monday at dawn, around 6:30 a.m., on the A8 motorway near Mandelieu. He was hit by a small 3.5 tonne truck, reportedly following getting out of his car. Emergency services were unable to resuscitate him.

The tragedy occurred on the northern roadway, in the Italy-Aix direction.

According to the first elements collected by the gendarmerie, a motorist would have parked on the emergency lane. This 50-year-old would have left his vehicle, closed the door and then remained on the side. A tow truck mowed him down moments later.

Breakdown? Suicide? The national gendarmerie seeks to establish the origin of the fatal shock.

The Mandelieu motorway platoon intervened, as well as the Sdis 06.

The rescue intervention caused 5 km of slowdowns in the Italy-Aix direction, and nearly 4 km in the opposite direction, as a result of “curiosity”. At 8:15 am, the intervention was still in progress.
