CAIRO (AP) — An Egyptian police officer opened fire on Israeli tourists in the Mediterranean city of Alexandria on Sunday, killing at least two Israelis and an Egyptian, according to local media.
Another person was injured in the attack on Pompey’s Pillar in Alexandria, according to the Extra News television channel, which is close to Egyptian security agencies and which cited an unidentified security source.
The alleged attacker was arrested, he added.
The Israeli Zaka rescue service reported two dead in Alexandria.
Sunday’s attack came as Israeli forces battled Palestinian militants following a major incursion from Gaza.
