Pothankot: A toddler who was playing in front of his house was hit by an unknown vehicle and died. Rayyan (one), son of Abdul Rahim, an employee of PMG Economics and Statistics, and Fasna, a teacher of Balakkuri Higher Secondary School, died in the new house of Vengode East. The vehicle that hit the child has not been identified. The accident happened while playing in the backyard around 6 pm on Monday.

Abdul Salam, a neighbor auto driver, first saw the child lying injured in an accident on the road in front of the house. The baby was found bleeding from the ear and nose and injured on the back of the head. He was rushed to a private hospital but his life might not be saved.

Only the child’s stepfather and mother were present in the house. The body was shifted to the Medical College Hospital. The vehicle that hit the child has not been identified.

Abdussalam told the police that a car passed by just before he saw the injured child. Pothankot police registered a case and started investigation.
