A 20-year-old woman, resident in the city of Rosario de Lerma, reported having been scammed through Facebook Marketplace, losing almost 3 million pesos in the process. The victim contacted an alleged seller who offered a refrigerator at an affordable price.

A 20-year-old woman, resident in the city of Rosario de Lerma, reported having been scammed through Facebook Marketplace, losing almost 3 million pesos in the process. The victim contacted an alleged seller who offered a refrigerator at an affordable price.

According to the victim’s account, she made three bank transfers with a combined value of close to 3 million pesos to purchase the appliance, but she never received the refrigerator nor was she able to contact the seller again, who blocked her on the platform after receiving the payment.

In light of this situation, the Cybercrime Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation to clarify the facts and determine the identity of the scammer.
