The Association of Biochemists of Mendoza (ABM) stated this Tuesday that it will not charge an extra amount to the members of six social works with which an agreement was reached. Meanwhile, with the rest of the entities, added to the prepaid medicine entity, the co-payment of $4,000 plus VAT will continue ($4,840 in total).

Gustavo Yapur, president of ABM, said: “These days, surely, we will have a good response from other prepaid companies and social works. We hope to reach an agreement and not punish the patient by charging him a co-payment.”

In this way, members of TV Salud, OSPE, APSOT, HOPE, OSDE and DAMSU will not have to pay extra for medical care. Added to these are PAMI and OSEP, which had already been exempted.

The conflict

The conflict with the providing companies has been going on for months and began with the complaint of the province’s doctors, who, following the formation of the Health Board (which brings together more than 60 specialties), faced what they described as “ low remuneration” of the prepaid for each consultation and the alleged delays in canceling the payments, which in many cases exceeded 90 days.

Faced with the obligation of an extra payment to be able to access laboratory tests, patients may request a receipt to present at the prepaid or social work for an eventual reimbursement.
