Absurd Placement of Signs: Hazards for Cyclists in Court-Saint-Étienne

2023-09-11 10:00:00

In Belgium, we already knew (among others) the pedestrian crossing which stops in the middle of the road, the one which ends in front of barriers or a tree, the sign which indicates to turn left to enter a roundregarding , the speed bump condemned by pickets, etc. Here are now the signs installed across a cycle path.

In Court-Saint-Étienne, new signs have been installed, indicating the exits and entrances to the villages that make up the commune. But several of them were placed in a somewhat absurd manner. These signs rest on two posts, some of which are planted either in the middle of a sidewalk, or on a cycle path… As the path is not very wide, it is almost impossible for cyclists to pass without risk next to the pole, which they must now go around via the road.

A situation that annoys local residents. “It’s horrible and dangerous”, “Completely thoughtless”, “We border on genius”, “what nonsense”, we read on social networks, where a resident of the town posted pictures of this Belgian inconsistency.

According to several residents, the SPW was notified of the situation.
