Accident at the Cienfuegos Cement Factory leaves one dead and several injured

On Tuesday afternoon, a serious accident occurred at the Cementos Cienfuegos SA plant, located in the Guabairo area, about fifteen kilometers from the city of Cienfuegos.

The incident occurred when a material spill occurred in one of the factory’s hoppers, triggering a series of fatal consequences.

After learning of the incident, the Rescue and Salvage Brigades have coordinated the necessary actions to manage the emergency.

One dead and several seriously injured

Unfortunately, the accident claimed the life of Raymundo Narciso Sarría, an employee of the Engineering Construction Company No. 6 (Ecoing-6).

Several employees were also seriously injured. Among the injured, Dionel Figueroa Calunga is in extremely critical condition, with burns affecting 70 percent of his body.

Francisco Díaz Urquiza is reported to be in very serious condition, while Hermes Rojas Campos is in serious condition.

Two other workers, Carlos Aguilar Sabina and Alexei Aguilar Valdés, have been classified as being in less serious condition. All the injured are receiving medical attention in the Burns Unit of the Dr. Gustavo Aldereguía Lima Provincial Hospital, where the necessary resources and supplies for their treatment have been secured.

The causes of this tragic accident at the Cementos Cienfuegos SA plant are currently being investigated in order to clarify what happened and take appropriate measures.
