Al-Marsad newspaper: A video of the Egyptian artist, Ilham Shaheen, praying without a veil, sparked widespread controversy on social networking sites in Egypt.

Shaheen appeared while praying at the funeral of the late artist Maha Abu Auf without wearing a veil, and she kneeled, which exposed her to criticism and sparked controversy among the pioneers of the social media.

The controversy prompted the artist to come out in a telephone intervention to comment on the video, and she said in statements to MBC Egypt: “The veil slipped, and it was spoiled on my shoulder. I did not pay attention for a moment, and then I realized and lifted it.”
