Mexico City.- Actress Samantha Weinstein, who appeared in films and series such as Alias ​​Grace, Jesus Henry Christ and Reign, has died at the age of 28 following battling cancer for just over two years.

The American, best known for having appeared in the 2013 remake of the horror film Carrie, alongside Chloë Grace Moretz, began her acting career at the age of six.

In April 2021, Weinstein told her followers on social media that she was battling a rare form of ovarian cancer. At that time he underwent several chemotherapy sessions.

“I have every chance to live a long and healthy life following treatment. Chemotherapy will be my hardest journey yet, but it will make me stronger than ever,” she said on Instagram.

Throughout the months since her first diagnosis, the actress shared her medical process to fight cancer on her networks. The news of her death was released a few days ago by her family.

“After two and a half years of cancer treatment and a lifetime of traveling the world, voicing a host of cartoon characters, making music, and knowing more regarding life than most people she’ll never know, she’s embarking on her next adventure,” her family said in a statement posted on Instagram.

Before passing away, Weinstein shared on his official Instagram account several photos of his honeymoon in Tokyo, next to his husband, Michael Knutson, whom he married at the end of 2022.
