The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority approved raising the taxi meter tariff in the emirate by 4 dirhams, from the beginning of July, based on the decision of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Sharjah, to amend the tariff for taxis in the emirate, to keep pace with the liberalization of fuel prices, to adopt the adjustment system in the tariff of opening the meter up and down According to the fuel prices approved by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure.
The price of the taxi meter tariff in the Emirate of Sharjah witnessed a noticeable change that was touched by vehicle users. dirhams. Currently, with the increase in the price, the opening of the meter starts from 7 dirhams, and then the minimum trip is 17.5 dirhams.
In the last stage, the value of the meter between 10:00 pm and 6:00 am was 5 dirhams, with the minimum trip value being 15.5 dirhams, and with the current increase, the value of opening the meter starts from 9 dirhams, with the minimum trip being 19.5 dirhams.
In a previous statement, the authority announced setting a tariff pricing policy and following up on its implementation, to serve the segment of taxi users. The amendment of the tariff schedule comes within the framework of the authority’s efforts to improve the quality of service provided to passengers, keep pace with the development witnessed by the transport sector in the emirate, and provide services that enhance customer satisfaction and taxi users. She stressed that the amendment will positively affect the level of service, ensuring the enhancement of the role of drivers in implementing the authority’s plan and programs, to develop the level of customer service. The authority is keen to do everything to achieve its objectives in developing the transport fleet in accordance with the approved international standards.
