by Alexandra Hartman Editor-in-Chief

ADO Den Haag is still on course in the battle for promotion. At home, FC Den Bosch was simply put aside. Darije Kalezic’s team won 3-0. Jari Vlak crowned his home debut with a fantastic goal. The other goals from The Hague were made by Henk Veerman and Henri Koudossou.

After a midweek cup match, ADO Den Haag met FC Den Bosch in its own Bingoal Stadium on Sunday, February 11. ADO Den Haag started with one change compared to the cup match once morest NEC. Head coach Darije Kalezic decided to play more offensively once morest the current number 18 of the Kitchen Champion Division, which resulted in Ideho returning to the starting line-up, which meant that Koudossou had to take a seat on the bench.

The current difference in the rankings (27 points) was also visible on the field from kick-off. The visitors almost immediately dropped back into their own half, causing ADO Den Haag to try to take the initiative. Van Mieghem was immediately on track with a sharp cross to Van der Sande, but unfortunately the attacking midfielder was just unable to put his head to the ball. Less than a minute later, the same Van der Sande, with a fantastic kick on the outside of the foot, served Van Mieghem. The fast attacker took the ball with his head, but also saw it bounce too far in front of him.

The home team continued to push, creating one chance following another. Ideho was close to the opening goal when he was also served by Van Mieghem. His header also went over. Yet ADO Den Haag received wages following work. Captain Surmeli laid the ball wide on Vlak, making his home debut a true spectacle. The midfielder shot an indirect free kick from regarding 20 meters once morest the ropes: 1-0!

The visitors were behind the times and visibly had difficulty with a dominant ADO Den Haag. Goalkeeper Hegyi managed to prevent a bigger lead following both Van der Sande and Ideho attacked his goal. The emerging Ché deserved to double the score so far, following he took the ball in his slipper from a great distance. Hegyi kept his team on their feet with a nice dive, allowing ADO Den Haag to go into halftime with a minimal lead.

The yellow-greens also continued where they left off in the second half. Ché was close once more, but saw his shot curl just wide of the goal. Even though ADO Den Haag had not yet run into problems, the score remained at one goal for a while. None other than Veerman changed that. The Bingoal Stadium might cheer for the second time this followingnoon, following a custom corner was headed in once morest the grain by the Hague striker.

The 3-0 then seemed closer than a possible goal, it was Waem who headed the ball onto the post and Ideho miraculously might not shoot in the rebound. Unfortunately, luck was lacking in this attack. Just before the final phase of the match, the visitors did something back. Vicario shot the crossbar from a distance, allowing FC Den Bosch to also score a noteworthy opportunity. The Hague Quarter sounded through the stadium when Van Wolfgang and Koudossou made their appearance. Schalk had already come on a few minutes earlier. ADO Den Haag continued to search for that third goal.

In the last minutes of the match there was another special moment that got the crowd in the Bingoal Stadium on their feet. Timothy Derijck returned to ADO Den Haag for the second time and was more than warmly welcomed by the supporters. The match seemed to be heading for a solid 2-0 victory. However, substitute Henri Koudossou once once more gave those present reason to cheer. After a long sprint from behind, he received the ball in the loop and managed to neatly place it in the far corner.

ADO Den Haag recorded a convincing 3-0 home victory. The numbers 1 and 2 of the rankings will meet on Friday. ADO Den Haag will then visit Willem II. A week later, MVV Maastricht is waiting at home.
