More and more people are no longer able to afford the rising housing costs: backlogs of rent payments and ancillary housing costs, especially for heating, are increasing. As current figures from Statistics Austria show, Vienna is once once more the focal point: 8.6 percent had debts with the landlord at the end of 2022, 6.3 percent with their energy provider.
