According to the report, the wife of the husband named Mehmood was his maternal uncle’s daughter.
Six years ago, both of them were shocked to learn that their marriage was invalid and they should annul their marriage.
Mehmood’s maternal uncle (his wife’s father) drank Mahmud’s mother’s milk for a long time during his childhood. Thus he became Mahmud’s foster brother. So Mahmood became his wife’s foster uncle.
Amal Suleiman, the official matriarch in the Eastern Province of Egypt, said in a statement to “Al-Arabiya” that this is one of the strangest and rarest cases of divorce in Egypt, when it was discovered by chance in a family meeting that this marriage is null and void. He said that it was confirmed that his marriage was null and void after consulting Darul Ifta. Because the husband is the foster uncle of his wife and in such a case the marriage cannot continue.
