After dengue, malaria and Covid, Englishman survives cobra bite in India

British aid worker who survived Covid, dengue fever and malaria also survived a cobra bite in the state of Rajasthan in western India, said the doctor who treated him .

Ian Jones was bitten by an Indian cobra and admitted to hospital in Jodhpur, about 350 km from the regional capital Jaipur.

“Jones came to see us last week after a snake bite. At first he was suspected to be also positive for Covid-19 (for the second time) but he tested negative for that,” said Saturday to AFP the doctor, Dr. Abhishek Tater, who treated him.

“While he was with us he was conscious and had symptoms of a snake bite, including blurring of vision and difficulty walking, but these are usually transient symptoms,” added Dr Tater.

Ian Jones was released from hospital earlier in the week.

“Dad is a fighter. During his stay in India, he already suffered from malaria and dengue, then from Covid-19,” commented his son, Seb Jones, in a post on the GoFundMe website set up for help pay for his medical bills and his return trip to the Isle of Wight in the south of England.

Ian Jones has set up a structure, Sabirian, which works with traditional artisans in Rajasthan and helps them export their products to Great Britain.
