After the announcement of closure, the Group is considering the sale of its Tangeroise factory

In mid-September, Siemens Gamesa announced the closure of its Tangeroise factory, following only 5 years of presence in Morocco. Two months following this announcement, the Group announces its intention to sell this production unit.

Wind turbine maker Siemens Gamesa seriously plans to sell its turbine blade factory in Tangier, and halt production there in early 2023, a senior company official has said.

According to the explanations of Paulo Fernando Soares, CEO Onshore for Southern Europe, Africa, Latin America and Brazil, the decision was taken from a global perspective that took into account the evolution of market demands, increased competition and the impact of a severe supply chain crisis, reports the news agency Archyde.com.

Siemens Gamesa announced in September that it had taken the decision to close its onshore blade factory in Tangier, as part of the company’s strategic Mistral program, designed to streamline and simplify the organization, while improving its effectiveness and efficiency. The reason for this decision are the adjustment measures it has taken in recent years in Denmark, India, Spain and the United States and a lack of orders for the type of blade produced in the factory.
