During a meeting with members of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Security Committee, Gallant presented an operational review and reviewed the progress of work in the Gaza Strip and efforts to return the hostages. He said: “We are in a war of multiple arenas, offensively and defensively.”
He pointed out, “We receive evidence of this every day, including the past few days, and we work everywhere every day to prevent the strengthening of our enemies and to make clear to everyone who works once morest us, throughout the Middle East, that the price of acting once morest Israel will be high.”
Regarding the situation in Gaza, he said: “Hamas has stopped operating as a military organization in most parts of the Gaza Strip. Its leaders are hiding in the tunnels, and they have lost their ability to command and control most parts of the Strip,” adding: “The information obtained from investigations with the terrorists indicates the presence of a dissolved organization from the Rafah Brigade in Gaza with its four brigades, and we will deal with it soon.”
Gallant touched on the hostage issue, stressing that “military pressure was and still is the main and most important factor in the return of the kidnappers.” The advanced stage we have reached in the process of dismantling Hamas, in addition to the information that comes to us from investigations with the arrested terrorists, makes us stronger in negotiations and allows us to make difficult decisions.”
He pointed out that “Hamas does not have important intelligence sources. Every leak from closed discussions serves Hamas.”
