After the Olympic success – Truls appointed honorary citizen of Eslöv

Double silver, win against the world number one and great success in the Olympics.
Now Truls Möregårdh becomes an honorary citizen of Eslöv.
– You are absolutely wonderful who have come here. Thank you for all the support, he said to the crowd at Stora torg.

This afternoon, Truls Möregårdh met the people’s cheers when he came home to Eslöv for the first time after his double Olympic silver in table tennis.

– You are absolutely wonderful who have come here. Thank you for all the support, said Möregårdh to the crowd at Stora torg.

After the enormous success in Paris, there were many who wanted to see and pay tribute to the new star of Swedish table tennis. He was appointed an honorary citizen of Eslöv – but some on site wanted to take it a step further.

– It’s royal. I think he should be named Eslöv’s king. Honorary citizens are not enough, not for Truls. King Truls!, says Ernesto Gustafsson.

Warmed up Truls

Ernesto Gustafsson tells the TV4 Nyheternas reporter that he has a past with Truls Möregårdh.

– He’s fucking cruel. When he started in the ping pong club, I was the one who warmed him up. Then I noticed that: shit, he might be better than me. Then I took a step back and let him take the throne in Eslöv. Sometimes I won over him, but most of the time he won over me, he says, laughing.

On site, you could see how girlfriend Leah Muskantor and Truls Möregårdh kissed and after all the tributes, more or less everyone wanted to take selfies with the Olympic hero.

– We are here to support Truls. He is so good at table tennis, says Linnea Olofsson, who was there with her friends.
