A case of fraud once morest an elderly woman was registered today in Agrinio.
Scammers have been calling many Agriniots lately pretending to be other people and telling them that a relative of theirs was involved in a traffic accident.
Until yesterday there were more than 25 similar attempts in the Agrinio area with the Police investigations ongoing.
Today, however, they managed to extort 6000 euros from an elderly woman under the same pretext.
In the previous days, in at least two cases, following similar phone calls, relatives went to Agrinio hospital terrified in order to find out information regarding their children and the alleged traffic accident.
There, they were reassured that nothing had happened and that it was all part of the well-known scam to extract money.
