Competent acute care in new premises since February 1st
Vienna (OTS) – The primary care outpatient clinic (EVA) is an established and proven facility at many clinics in the Vienna Health Association, which is operated by the City of Vienna together with the Vienna Medical Radio Service. General practitioners examine and treat acute complaints or refer patients to the general practice area or to a hospital outpatient clinic depending on urgency and necessity.
The patients benefit in particular from the “best point of care”: “The medical structures of the primary care outpatient clinic are tailor-made for the treatment of minor to medium-sized complaints that do not require admission to a hospital,” says City Councilor for Health Peter Hacker. In addition to the primary care outpatient clinic for adults, the existing children’s emergency service (KiND) at the Vienna General Hospital, which was previously set up at the University Clinic for Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine, was also relocated.
General medical acute care was successfully put into operation as AMA in 2016 and has continued to develop since then. “This measure has significantly reduced the burden on the outpatient departments of the Vienna General Hospital and in particular the emergency room and our employees have since been able to care more intensively for those patients who absolutely need the expertise and equipment of a university hospital,” says Herwig Wetzlinger, director of the Vienna General Hospital.
After more than 7 years, the primary care outpatient clinic is now receiving new, centrally located premises in the entrance building of the Vienna General Hospital. In addition to the registration desk and the waiting areas, the examination and treatment rooms on 350 m² of usable space were completely new, bright and friendly. Patients are guided to the EVA from the main entrance of the Vienna General Hospital using a new signage and lighting concept.
EVA’s opening hours are Monday to Sunday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
