Al-Burhan: Efforts are underway to form a government to manage the transitional period in Sudan

A statement by the Sovereignty Council said that Al-Burhan “met in his office yesterday with the Sudanese-Egyptian media delegation in the presence of the Undersecretary of Information, Ms. Samia Al-Hadi, and briefed them on the developments in the situation in Sudan against the backdrop of the rebellion led by the terrorist Rapid Support Militia against the state and its institutions, stressing the ability of the armed forces to defeat and eliminate the rebellion.”

The statement added: “Lieutenant General Al-Burhan confirmed that efforts are underway to form a government to manage the transitional period.”

Al-Burhan explained that “whoever wants to stop the war must talk to the rebels who are attacking civilians in their areas,” stressing that the violations committed by the militia against the Sudanese people are unprecedented in all wars in the world.

He pointed out that “the polarization practiced by the Al-Dagalo militia among the tribes and its efforts to create a social rift within them,” indicating that the government’s position on any negotiations is known through the vision that was presented to the mediators.

He expressed his thanks to Egypt, its leadership and people, for standing by Sudan and hosting the Sudanese who sought refuge there.

The head of the Sovereignty Council thanked the Egyptian media for its “professionalism in addressing the situation in Sudan and its coverage of events with complete impartiality and transparency.”

In turn, Al-Hindi Ezz El-Din, head of the delegation, explained that the head of the Sovereignty Council provided an update on the political and security situation, through which he reassured the delegation that the armed forces are steadfast and firm and are moving forward to resolve the battle of dignity soon.

He stressed the Sudanese government’s openness to any initiatives that adhere to Sudan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and implementation of the decisions of the Jeddah Agreement signed on May 11, 2023.
