Al-Buri field.. “Saeed” reopens a case settled in favor of Libya years ago, and the Ministry of Oil responds

The Minister of Oil and Gas, “Mohamed Aoun,” confirmed that the issue of the Bouri field with the state of Tunisia was decided by the international judiciary since the eighties of the last century in favor of Libya.

Aoun said, in his response to the statements of the Tunisian President, Qais Saeed, to Al-Ahrar, that a Libyan-Tunisian company was established in the year 88 to develop joint wells in a joint Berhia area between the two countries.

Aoun pointed out that this area is far from Al-Buri, Bahr Al-Salam and Al-Jarf field, which are all located within the dividing line ruled by the Prefectural Court of Justice between Tunisia and Libya.

The Tunisian president had stated during a visit to the Tunisian Oil Corporation that his country would only obtain what he described as “crumbs” from the offshore Bouri field, indicating that there was an intention to divide the field into two halves with Libya, but this proposal was retracted, following strained relations between the two countries. .
