Al Jazeera: 2 journalists seriously injured in an Israeli strike in the Gaza Strip

Reporter Ismail Abu Omar’s life is in danger following his right leg was amputated and doctors are still trying to save his left, al Jazeera reported, citing an emergency room doctor.

The report said cameraman Ahmad Matar was in a serious condition following being targeted by an Israeli drone in northern Rafah.

The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip, which is controlled by the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas, said the two people were injured in an Israeli warplane strike in the Moraj area.

Two other al Jazeera journalists have been killed and the head of the TV bureau in Gaza, Wael al-Dahdouh (Wael Dadu), has been injured in the war between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

His son, also a journalist, Hamza Wael al-Dahdouh (Hamza Wael Dadu) was killed last month when Israeli forces targeted the car he was traveling in with another al-Jazeera journalist, Mustafa Thuria.

In December, al Jazeera cameraman Samer Abu Daqqa was killed in a strike.

According to the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), at least 85 journalists and media workers, including 78 Palestinians, have been killed in the Gaza Strip since the war began.
