The Court of Arbitration for Sport said on Friday it had registered an appeal by the Chilean Football Association once morest FIFA’s decision to allow Ecuador to compete in the World Cup despite allegations that a player was ineligible to participate. FIFA earlier this month rejected an appeal in the case of Ecuadorean player Byron Castillo, who Chile alleges was ineligible to play in the qualifiers because he was born in Colombia.

Castillo played eight matches with Ecuador in the World Cup qualifiers. And he played twice once morest Chile.

Ecuador finished fourth to qualify for the World Cup, and will face hosts Qatar in the opening match, while Chile failed to qualify following it came in seventh place.

Ecuador denied that Castillo was not qualified to play in its jersey.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport stated that it also accepted an appeal from the Peruvian federation, as Peru ranked fifth to lose the opportunity to qualify directly, then lost to Australia in the playoffs.

A decision is expected by November 10, days before the World Cup kicks off on November 20.
