15-year-old Ethan Nwaneri became the youngest player in the history of the English Premier League when he came as a substitute for Arsenal, who regained the top spot in the competition with an easy 3-0 victory at Brentford Stadium on Sunday.

Nwaneri, aged 15 years and 181 days, replaced Vieira in the second minute of stoppage time, becoming the first player under 16 to play in the Premier League.

The youngest former player to participate in the tournament was Harvey Elliott, a Liverpool player, who was 16 years and 38 days old when he made his first Premier League match with his former club Fulham.
