Freiburg climbed to the top of the German Bundesliga with a goal difference from Borussia Dortmund, benefiting from its 3-2 victory over Bayer Leverkusen and a tie between Bayern Munich and Union Berlin.
Freiburg’s tally of 12 points is the same as Dortmund, who defeated Hoffenheim 1-0 on Friday.
Karam Demirbay and Czech Patrick Shaik (16 and 65) scored for the loser, while Freiburg Ginter, Austrian Grigorić and Japanese substitute Duan (48, 50 and 71) alternated.
