The shirt worn by Argentine football legend, Diego Armando Maradona, during the 1986 World Cup final in Mexico, has returned to Argentina. And that was following he was donated by German Lothar Matthaus, who faced Maradona in the play-off.

The Argentine Football Association announced on social media: “The shirt worn by our legend Diego Armando Maradona in the final of the 86 World Cup has returned to the country. Yes he returned to the Argentine Football Museum. It is a treasure belonging to one of our most prominent representatives in world football.”

Claudio Tapia, president of the Argentine Football Association, said: “We are very proud to have returned the Diego Maradona shirt in the final of the 1986 World Cup in Mexico. Soon everyone will be able to see it. Thank you, Marcelo Ordas and Lothar Matthaus, who can now see the shirt at any time.”

Maradona played in Spain 1982, Mexico 1986, Italy 1990, USA 1994 and France 1998.
