Al-Manar Sports website » New measures in the English Premier League to address the misconduct of the masses

The English Premier League said it will introduce new safety measures to tackle fan misconduct ahead of next season, with clubs unanimously agreeing that visiting teams will provide additional stewards for their away matches.

Swede Robin Olsen, Aston Villa goalkeeper, was attacked while Manchester City fans celebrated winning the Premier League title by sweeping the Etihad Stadium last month.

Everton fans also invaded the stadium at Goodison Park following Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s late winning goal, as well as with the final whistle in the 3-2 victory over Crystal Palace that ensured him stay in the top flight.

Palace coach Patrick Vieira also got into a fight with a fan as he walked towards the dressing room following the final whistle, prompting the English Football Association to open an investigation.

The League said it also hoped to address the problem of fireworks that disrupted matches last season.
