Former England international striker Wayne Rooney has officially contracted with DC United to supervise his training following defending his colors as a player between 2018 and 2019, the club announced on Tuesday.
“Wayne is a footballing legend and one of the most passionate and dynamic coaches in our sport,” said club president Jason Levine.
He added, “He proved at the beginning of his career as a coach that he can manage a team that is in crisis.”
For his part, the club’s head of football operations, Dave Kasper, said: “Rooney is a winner and a competitor. His way of working and what he imposes on himself and his players are unparalleled.”
And the former Manchester United striker will replace Argentine Hernan Losada, who was dismissed from his duties following only 6 matches since the start of the season, following the team’s poor results.
