Alex Albon (Williams) withdraws from the Italian GP, Nyck de Vries replaces him

by Alexandra Hartman Editor-in-Chief

After his third session on Friday, the day before, Nyck de Vries proclaimed his desire to be in F1. “I deserve my place”, he affirmed while descending from the Aston Martin. His wish will have been granted this Saturday. Alex Albon, victim of appendicitis, will indeed not be able to drive his Williams this weekend.

As the Dutchman has already tested the Williams, on Friday from Barcelona (he had driven in the Mercedes in France), the tenure of the 2019 F2 and Formula E 2020 champion was obvious. A good chance for De Vries to show what he is worth to the Grove team who would think of him to replace Latifi in 2023.
