It begins in the first week of December every year, usually starting on December 4. Nawah Qasim often lasts between 4 and 5 days, and blows on Alexandria in the form of southwestern winds, severe storms, and heavy rain.
It was given this name in reference to one of the fishermen’s sons, called “Qasim,” who was on a fishing trip during the days of the rainy season, and was drowned, which led to giving it his name. It is described as the most dangerous of the winter rainwaters due to the intensity of its rains and storms.
