Manama: The ban on shrimp trawling has been lifted, but traders say the availability is low. Compared to last year, the price has also increased.

The six-month trolling ban ended on Sunday. A kilo of medium-sized shrimp was priced at 2.5 dinars at the Manama Central Market on Monday. Large shrimps were charged 3 to 3.5 dinars per kg and small ones 1.5 to 2 dinars. The price on Monday was between 105 and 115 dinars for a 40 kg box. This is in the range of 80 dinars to 100 dinars at the same time last year. This time there was a price increase of regarding 15 percent. Only 50-60 boxes of shrimp reached the market on Monday. A trader at the central market said that the number of people who came to buy shrimp was also very low.
