Spanish actor Álvaro Morte, internationally known for the series ‘La casa de papel’, will debut alongside Lily Collins (‘Emily in Paris’) in London’s West End with a production of the play ‘Barcelona’ by Bess Wohl, directed by Lynette Linton.

The play will run at the Duke of York Theatre for 12 weeks from 21 October to 11 January, according to the theatre’s website.

Set in the Catalan capital, the work is described as a thriller about a game of seduction between two characters, an American tourist and a “handsome Spaniard.”

Casual encounter

What begins as a chance encounter evolves into a more complex and dangerous situation where personal and political elements intertwine.

Bess Whol is an American playwright and filmmaker whose credits include the 2021 Tony Award-nominated play ‘Grand Horizons’, the 2022 film ‘Baby Ruby’ starring Noemi Merlant and Kit Harrington, and the Apple TV series ‘Extrapolations’.

Linton has received acclaim for her production of “Blues for an Alabama Sky” at the National Theatre and is the artistic director of London’s Bush Theatre.
