Amadou Ba, Senegalese Prime Minister: “I will win the presidential election in the first round”

In an exclusive interview with France 24 and RFI in Dakar, Senegalese Prime Minister Amadou Ba says he is confident regarding his candidacy for the presidential election on February 25. The Alliance for the Republic candidate assures us: he will win “in the first round”.

“I would like to tell you that we have a very open election because there are still twenty candidates,” says Amadou Ba, the Senegalese Prime Minister, interviewed in Dakar by Marc Perelman (France 24) and Christophe Boisbouvier (RFI). “I have the privilege of belonging to the strongest, most organized coalition, and there is no doubt from my point of view that we will advance to the first round (…) I think that on February 25 , I will be elected, and in the first round.”

The presidential election in Senegal is due to be held on February 25. The vote is nevertheless marked by the absence of two major opposition figures: Ousmane Sonko, currently incarcerated, and Karim Wade, whose candidacy was invalidated by the Constitutional Court.
