breaking: Serrano Retains featherweight Crowns in Electric Puerto Rico Homecoming

Amanda Serrano marked a much-anticipated homecoming in San Juan with a decisive points victory over Reina Tellez, maintaining the WBA, WBO and Ring Magazine featherweight belts.

The challenger from the United States stepped in on 15 days’ notice and briefly troubled Serrano in round five with an overhand left that opened a swelling under the defending champion’s right eye.

But Serrano’s vast experience told as the seven-division titleholder controlled the late stretches to earn scores of 98-92, 97-93 and 97-93.

“I’m super thankful and grateful to Reina for coming on short notice and coming to fight,” Serrano said. “She’s a warrior.”

The bout was contested over 10 three-minute rounds, under men’s boxing rules, and it lifts Serrano’s pro ledger to 48 wins, four losses and one draw.

“It’s been two years since I fought at this weight. I know the next fights will be even better, and I’m glad I could give the fans a show,” Serrano added.

Co‑Main Event: Holm Falls Short Against Han; Han Retains Lightweight Title

In the chief support, Holly Holm was unable to become a four-division boxing champion, as she ceded points to WBA lightweight titleholder Stephanie Han.

The contest was halted in the seventh round after a cut to Han’s forehead from an accidental clash of heads, deemed unable to continue by the ringside doctor, handing Han a unanimous decision win.

Holm, 44, had returned to professional boxing in 2025 following a 12-year hiatus that included more than a decade in mixed martial arts with the UFC.
