American bomber B-52H flew up to the border of the Russian Federation in the Gulf of Finland

An American B-52H Stratofortress strategic bomber was maneuvering over the Baltic Sea, not far from the border with Russia. The Polish authorities announced the conduct of NATO exercises.

The flight of the aircraft with the call sign NOBLE61 was tracked by many channels that specialize in working with open data. The history of the aircraft’s movement was not saved on FlightRadar24, but it was recorded on the AirNav RadarBox service. The bomber flew past Tallinn and Helsinki in the direction of the Russian Federation, but turned around near the island of Hogland.

Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak tweeted that the bomber was escorted by Polish fighter jets. “This is an important element of interoperability exercises. Together we take care of the security of NATO’s eastern flank,” the minister wrote. NATO did not report the purpose of the B-52H Stratofortress flight.
